Northern and Central Spain from May 13 to June 6, 2025 * Day 1: Road trip from Loire Atlantique to the Pyrenees. Overnight stay in Lacommande (64). * Day 2: Very quiet night. Road to the Col de Portalet, a small one-hour walk and drive to our overnight stop in Formigal (deserted ski resort). There is another camper van in this parking lot. Walk around the town before sleeping. * Day 3: Very quiet night. Hike to Pic de Anayeto and Ubone de Anayeto. Sun, clouds, rain, sun… It's very beautiful. Night at the same parking lot. * Day 4: Very quiet night. Hike to Pointe de Groel. Very beautiful. Very hot weather. Night in Aguëro, under the Mallos. We are alone. Nice walk in the village. * Day 5: Very quiet night. One-hour and 40-minute walk around the Mallos d’Aguëro. Very beautiful, hot. Drive to Huesca (poppy fields, many storks). Two-hour walk in the historic center. Night in Huesca (72, calle de Jorge): free camper van area, free services. Many camper vans. Shade. Beware of magpie droppings! Calm even if the surrounding landscape is not the prettiest. * Day 6: Very quiet night. Long drive to Playa Pita. Intense heat. Desert landscapes (not far from Bardenas), storks, poppies, wheat fields… Night at Playa Pita: very large expanses of water, many spots. We are 3 camper vans for hundreds of meters. Beware of mosquitoes. Overnight parking prohibited from 01/06 to 15/10. * Day 7: Very quiet and cool night. Drive to Catalanazor, a very beautiful medieval village. Drive to Pedraza, very pretty on its rocky spur with a view of the snow-capped Guadarama range. Stop in Segovia (parking on calle Teofilo Ayuso). It's a 15-minute walk from the historic center, which is very beautiful, and the aqueduct is impressive. Only camper van in this parking lot. * Day 8: Very quiet night. We go back to the city of Segovia on foot. Visit the cathedral, the Alcazar, magnificent. Very pretty historical alleys. Night at the same parking lot with a splendid sunset. * Day 9: Very quiet night. Drive to Avila. Stop at the paid camper van area (Areapark) at the foot of the ramparts (10 euros/24 hours with showers, toilets, services – very clean). Disappointed by the city of Avila: monuments in granite therefore grey, military style. We spend 2 hours but no more. * Day 10: Very quiet night at this area. Dumping, services. Departure for Toledo. Magnificent route: gorse, rocks, hills. Many hikes to be done no doubt. Parking in Toledo on a "mirador" overlooking the Tagus, 100 m from an entrance to the old town. Visit of the city: Jewish quarter ++, monuments, station (very pretty). Overnight parking at Peraleda parking (2 D car de la Peraleda). View of Toledo in the distance. Free parking. Possibility of services. A dozen camper vans. * Day 11: very quiet night. Departure for Orgaz, a small all-white village where a medieval festival and a bullfight are being prepared. Walk. Drive to Los Yebenes. Walk on the Roman path (2 or 3 km before Los Yebenes) to the two mills and the hermitage of San Brice. Very beautiful landscape. Drive to Consuegra. Parking at the parking lot at the foot of the castle and the mills. Beautiful 2-hour walk. Heat. Night at this parking lot with 7 other camper vans. Very beautiful lighting of the mills. * Day 12: very quiet night. Heat this morning. Drive to Madrid to see the saffron and ethnology museum. Interesting. We are alone to visit it. Drive to Puerto Lapice, free camper van area facing the mills (calle Sierrecilla). A bit of shade but still very hot. Walk towards the mills and the town in the evening. 4 camper vans. * Day 13: very quiet night. Very hot from the morning. Drive to Alcazar de San Juan (not extraordinary) then Campo de Criptana and its 10 mills on the edge of the village (very pretty). 2 camper vans. * Day 14: very good night. Stop in Belmonte. Magnificent castle at the top of the village (but closed on Mondays). Walk in the totally deserted village. Drive to Cuenca – many crops in the fields. Parking in Cuenca at the Playa Municipal. Quite a few camper vans despite a sign prohibiting it from dusk to dawn but the police we ask say it's allowed if there's no sign of camping. It's very beautiful, in the shade, by the river Jaquar. From the parking lot, we walk up to the old town which is on the cliff. Very hot. * Day 15: very good cool night. Visit of the old town from the camper van. Real crush for this town. Intense heat: 40 in the sun. Walk along the river in the evening. * Day 16: perfect and cool night. Drive to the Lagunas de Canada Del Hoyo (not extraordinary). Drive to Teruel, the landscapes are superb. Parking at the Teruel los planos autocaravanas area (tr de sagunto): it's a large free parking lot, surrounded by fencing. Dumping and water free. Shade. 3 km walk from the historic center. * Day 17: quiet night despite the nearby road. Walk to the historic center of Teruel and market (Thursday). Visit of the town and the provincial museum, superb and what to say about the view of the cathedral roofs and the town from the 4th floor... * Day 18: very quiet night. Services and shopping at the Auchan store on the other side of the road. Drive to Alberracin. Magnificent old town, 0 inhabitants in the village itself, walks on the walls. Crush. Night on site with 4 other camper vans. * Day 18: very quiet night. Drive to Gea de Albarracin (very small, deserted) then Monreal del Campo to see the saffron festival: dances, music, traditional songs, exhibitions. Drive to Daroca, a pretty little medieval village. Drive to Zaragoza at the Luciano Gracia camper van parking. Many vehicles. A bit of shade. * Day 19: very quiet night but very hot. By tram, in 7 stops, we arrived in the city center. The Pilar square is gigantic, the basilica (interior and exterior) is fabulous. Many people in the streets. Visit of the Palacio de la Aljaferia: splendid. * Day 20: very quiet night but very hot. Dumping and services. Drive to Ainsa, parking next to the medieval village (8 euros/24 h). Small walk in the pretty village but storm and rain. * Day 21: very good night, perfect temperature. Walk in the village then departure for the French border. The landscape changes and we go from gorges to a green valley. Drive to Piau Engaly (see what the resort is like outside the winter period): not very pretty in our opinion. Small walk along the stream but average weather and storm. * Day 22: very good night. Fog. Drive to Saint Lary – parking at the stadium parking lot, next to the paid area. Walk in town and in the countryside. * Day 23: very good night. Drive for the start of the hike to Lac de l'Oule. Pleasant hike. Return to the parking lot of Saint Lary for the night. * Day 24: very good night. Bike ride for Monsieur to the Col d'Aspin. * Return to Loire Atlantique, delighted with our journey.
